The Crimson Tide have officially announced their 2012 Spring Schedule. The schedule boasts the toughest opponents Alabama has ever faced before, including a D3 school (BSC) and four teams that finished 2011 ranked in the MCLA top 25 (Virginia Tech, Florida State, UCF, Clemson). Bama's home games include a 3-game opening weekend with LSU, Vanderbilt, and Northeastern as well as matches against Kentucky, Oklahoma, Florida State, and Clemson. The Tide will meet UCF in Birmingham for a neutral site game in addition to facing Auburn on 4/13 in Birmingham for the 'Iron Bowl of Lacrosse.'

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Walker as a new Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2012 season. Orignally from Pennsylvania, Michael moved to San Diego and accumulated most of his lacrosse experience on the West Coast. In 2000 and 2001, he was a San Diego County All-Star for Juniperro Serra High School. From there, he attended Cal State University and then Chico State University in 2002. At Chico State, Michael made the WCLL All-Conference team and helped lead Chico to a berth in the MCLA Division 1 National Tournament, where they lost in the 2nd round but finished #13 in the MCLA final polls.

After his career at Chico State, Michael joined the Varsity coaching staff at Monte Vista High School in San Diego (2004). He then left Monte Vista for a coaching position at Collierville High School in Memphis, TN (2005-2007). Michael spent 2008 & 2010 playing for TSG Heidelberg, a German lacrosse team that competes in the Division 1 Bundesliga, while in 2009 he spent on active duty for the U.S. Army in Iraq. Michael brings added leadership and discipline to our team, something that we hope will push us through the SELC tournament next season.

The Alabama Men's Lacrosse team is pleased to announce the hiring of Randy Nace as our new Head Coach. We were very fortunate that Randy has decided to join our ranks and lead the team beginning this Fall. Randy's high lacrosse IQ and extensive experience have everyone on the team excited about the upcoming season. Randy went to high school at Northfield Mt. Hermon School in Mount Hermon, MA, where he excelled as a goalie. From there, he went on to play for DIII Lynchburg College from '90-'94.

As a coach, Randy has held assistant coaching positions for Mountain Brook High School (AL) and Hoover High School (AL), where he helped lead the Bucs to 3 Alabama state championships. Most recently, Randy held a Head Coaching position at Vestavia Hills High School (AL), where he lead the fledging program to their very first appearance in the state championship. Coach Nace was recognized as the US Lacrosse 2011 Coach of the Year for the Alabama/Mississippi region last year, a strong testament to his leadership and coaching ability.

As the Fall season draws near, MCLA recruiting classes are beginning to take shape. Ours is no different, as CollegeLax.us and Laxunation.com have both published stories detailing Alabama's [unusually large] 2011 Recruiting Class. The Alabama Lacrosse Fall season begins in early September and continues through late November.
